Scratching your brain for songs to walk down the aisle to? If you’ve been to a wedding in the last 12 years, you’ve heard a bride and/or groom walk down the aisle to 1000 Years by Christina Perri. I’m not hating on the song, I almost picked this for my own wedding. It’s popular. Like REALLY popular.
But here at Unveiled, we are all about showcasing your uniqueness, celebrating your personality, toasting to your different! We love our different and delightfully weird couples! Because isn’t marriage just finding someone who’s the same kind of weird as you?
If you are looking for a unique song 1000 brides haven’t walked down the aisle to, check out this list of 8 songs that aren’t played at every wedding.
1. Diamonds & Pearls – Prince
Starting off strong with Prince. With lyrics like this in the chorus, this song is perfect no matter who is walking down the aisle.
If I gave you diamonds and pearls
Would you be a happy boy or a girl?
We love an inclusive king!
2. You Are In Love – Taylor Swift
For all of my Swifties out there – HI! I could make a whole list of just Taylor Swift songs for your wedding.
(Actually I might do that, so come back, be here for that list)
You Are In Love is one of her most underrated love songs in my opinions. Something about the first line in the chorus is the perfect summation of that simple, Friday night on the couch with a movie and your partner kind of love.
“You can hear it in the silence…”
3. Latch – Sam Smith
Sam Smith has one of those voices that feels smooth, like creamy peanut butter. Their voice, to me, is in the same category as Michael BublĂ© or John Legend; there’s just something uniquely romantic about it.
The great thing about this song is, if you’re hiring live musicians for your ceremony, this is a STUNNING instrumental arrangement.
4. I’m Gonna Be (500 Miles) – Sleeping at Last
I particularly love this song for couples who have been in a long distance relationship. But even if you grew up next door to each other, the sentiment is the same. You are walking down the aisle, a song about walking to your fiance narrates the moment.
5. What Dreams Are Made Of – Brent Morgan
You’re right. This is definitely the song at the end of The Lizzie McGuire Movie. And marrying your best friend is exactly What Dreams Are Made Of. (If you’re marrying a man named Paolo, you have to play this song at your wedding somewhere, it’s the law)
If you’re more into instrumentals, Allen Chung on YouTube does a dreamy violin cover of this song.
6. You’re Simply the Best – Noah Reid
Since we’ve made our way into Hollywood territory, Noah Reid aka Patrick from Schitt’s Creek does a SUUUPERRR romantic version of Tina Turner’s Simply the Best. If you’ve seen the show, you know the one I mean. But did you know he recorded a full version of the song?
7. Chasing Cars – Tommee Profitt & Fleurie
Sticking with the TV theme for one more song…where are my Grey’s Anatomy fans?! They’ve featured Snow Patrol, Sara Ramirez aka Callie, Sleeping at Last, and Tommee Profit & Fleurie for this song alone.
The build up at 2:16 of this cover will give you goosebumps.
If your wedding venue has big double doors at the top of aisle, and you like this song, please hire me! I have a vision that will put you in your feelings. You will definitely bring your guests to tears whether they love, hate, or are indifferent to Meredith Grey.
8. Here Comes the Sun – The Beatles
This is a sunny, upbeat song. It would be good for a recessional, but I think it would make a sweet song to walk down the aisle to. The positivity radiating from the melody can’t NOT put you, your partner, and your guests in a great mood.
There are a million songs to walk down the aisle to. You don’t need to choose the same song everyone else does. Make your wedding ceremony yours. Celebrate your love your way!
